Sealant

Expert Pediatric Dentistry in Gainesville & Haymarket

We recommend children to be seen for their first dental visit around the age of 1, or within 6 months of their first tooth erupting.  These early visits are important for establishing a dental home, getting your child comfortable with the dentist, educating parents about home care and diet, and evaluating for cavities. We want your child to have a positive experience at the dentist. We want your child to be excited for his/her visit. Avoid words like “fear”, “afraid”, “brave” as they can create a negative mindset. We have fun names for all our dental equipment such as “tooth counter”, “tooth tickler”, “sleepy juice”, and “Mr Thirsty”. We provide Floride Treatment to lower the risk of developing tooth decay, Silver Diamine Floride (SDF) to arrest carious lesions, and Sealants to seal the pits and grooves on permanent teeth to reduce the risk of developing a cavity.

Additionally, teething comes in spurts and is often uncomfortable, so to help with your child’s pain or discomfort, wipe your child’s gums and newly erupted teeth with a water-soaked gauze, freezer-chilled damp washcloth, or have them chew on a soft-bristle toothbrush. You can also begin brushing their budding teeth with a pea-size amount of Orajel training toothpaste.

Primary teeth guide the eruption of permanent (adult) teeth; holding the space into which these new teeth will erupt. If your child’s teeth need Spacers, Baby Root Canals and Stainless Steel Crowns, then they can be done at their comfort levels here. Routine dental visits will also help ensure that your child’s teeth and gums are healthy and happy during this transitional time, and that good brushing, flossing, and dietary habits are set.

Serving Gainesville, Haymarket, Bristow, Nokesville, Warrenton, Manassas and nearby areas, we are committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care tailored to your child’s needs.
