Fixed Bridges

When your teeth are missing, it greatly affects your smile. At the same time, the missing tooth has the potential to negatively affect your oral hygiene because of unprotected gum exposure. Fixed bridges are one of many options aimed at improving the appearance and function of your teeth by replacing the missing tooth or teeth. Fabricating Bridge takes 2-3 visits for completion and follows the same steps involved doing a dental crown.

First, the surrounding teeth are filed down to make room for the bridge to be placed. Next, impressions are made and sent off to a dental lab for the bridge to be made for you. You will be sent home with a temporary bridge that can restore temporary function to your smile. Once the new bridge has been created from the lab, you’ll come back into the office to have it permanently cemented to the surrounding teeth. Finally, the bridge will give a restored appearance and functionality as if it were your natural tooth.

Dental fixed bridges are a great option for replacing a missing tooth and can last for years with proper care. Some patients are not a candidate for implants due to extraction sites with less bone or health concerns, making a fixed bridge is an ideal option for them. Many patients also find it difficult to tolerate partial dentures, leaving fixed bridges as the ideal choice for them.
